What is the Path to the HAZWOPER 40 Hour Training?

This particular standard addresses 5 main areas of the expected employer as well as employee emergency response:

  1. Compulsory Cleanup Activities: This is a government mandated response to emergency or threat conditions that already exist at any uncontrolled hazardous site.

  2. Voluntary Cleanup Activities: This is a free-will voluntary rectification of any known dangerous substances.

  3. Corrective Actions: These are specific cleanup operations that pertain to the treatment, transportation, disposal and storage of hazardous wastes.

  4. Emergency Response: This is when responses need to be made to oil spills and other dangerous leaks or hazardous substance release.

  5. Waste Treatment Operations: This is when specific methods are used to monitor, report, store and dispose of solid waste.

The HAZWOPER 40 Hour Training Course consists of a number of lessons and goals. Each section has been specifically designed to satisfy all the OSHA requirements. The best path to getting to a HAZWOPER 40 hour training course is by first completing the 24 hour HAZWOPER course and the 8 hour annual refresher course.
